What's in the Box
Wi-Fi Motorized Curtains versus Zigbee Motorized Curtains
The reason why SmartHomeDB focuses on providing Zigbee enabled Curtain Motors instead of Wi-Fi enabled Curtain Motors is because Wi-Fi Curtain Motors have a high probability of becoming unreliable over time because Wi-Fi Curtain Motors require a dedicated cloud infrastructure (online servers) and dedicated app updates for respectively iOS and Android.

While the key benefit of Wi-Fi Curtain Motors is the ability to provide a Plug & Play Installation Experience, the key drawback is that the reliability of Wi-Fi Curtain Motors is extremely dependent on how well the manufacturer of the Wi-Fi Curtain Motors maintains the cloud infrastructure (online servers) dedicated for the Wi-Fi Curtain Motors they have sold on the market. If the cloud infrastructure (online servers) used by your Wi-Fi Curtain Motors is offline or experiences hiccups, there is a high probability the smart functionalities of your Wi-Fi Curtain Motors will be disabled temporarily or for longer periods of time. Furthermore, Wi-Fi Curtain Motors usually require dedicated apps for their smart functionalities and if those apps are not regularly updated on iOS and Android by the manufacturer of the Wi-Fi Curtain Motors, there is a high probability the required apps will not function properly temporarily or for longer periods of time, which will likely impact the smart functionalities of your Wi-Fi Curtain Motors.

Please note that these unreliability issues with Wi-Fi Curtain Motors also apply to other Wi-Fi enabled products. This is the reason why it is not uncommon that Wi-Fi enabled products from smaller companies receive negative customer reviews over time, because it is simply quite expensive to ensure that the required cloud infrastructure (online servers) is always live and also quite expensive to ensure that the related iOS and Android Apps fulfill all the latest requirements from respectively Apple and Google.

Our approach at SmartHomeDB is that we recommend our customers to rely on the cloud infrastructure (online servers) and app updates from the large players in the market such as Amazon (Alexa), Google (Google Assistant) and Samsung (SmartThings) as we believe that they are able to provide the highest level of relability to the functionalities of smart products in your home.

By providing our customers with Zigbee Curtain Motors which are compatible with Samsung SmartThings Hubs, our customers do not have to install an additional 'Curtains App' on their mobile devices and instead will be able to fully rely on the cloud infrastucture (online servers) and app updates from Samsung (SmartThings) for the reliability of the smart functionalities of our Zigbee Curtain Motors.

If you would like to mount a single curtain track into your Pelmet Box, the recommended available depth space is minimally 4 inches (10 centimeters).

If you would like to mount a double curtain track into your pelmet box, the recommended available depth space is minimally 8 inches (20 centimeters).

    • Motor Position: Can the curtain motor be mounted on both the left as right end side of the curtain track?

Yes, the SmartHomeDB Zigbee Curtain Motor can be mounted on both the left as right end side of the curtain track per your personal preference as the track is symmetrically designed.

When curtains open from the middle to the right and left of the track, it is called Center Open (or Split Draw / Center Draw). Center Open is the most common type of draw.

When a curtain is pulled open to only one side of the track, it is a one-way draw curtain track. The most common reason to use a one-way draw curtain track is that there's an obstacle in the way on the other side. The obstacle may be a chair, sofa, or even a wall.

When you order your SmartHomeDB Zigbee Curtains you are given the choice to choose between:

      1. Center Open
      2. Left Pull to Open
      3. Right Pull to Open
